I could say that I didn’t see the signs but that would be a lie. We all see them. We just prefer to see them as Yellow rather than HUGE and BLINKING RED.
What I didn’t see was just how deeply it all ran… And what I didn’t know was just how cruel some humans can be.
Narcissists are in a league of their own and the ones who are truly good at it are masters at driving you insane while convincing everyone else that they’re perfect.
I ended it after 2 years of total dysfunction masked by his lies and my denial.
At some point, I’d realized that this wasn’t just a battle between he and I. To survive a narcissist is to survive the battle between light and dark.
You can’t just walk away either. Their love of drama requires that it end in a blaze of burning rubble and ours did exactly that.
Curacao saved me. It also reminded my nervous system what rest felt like. It reminded my body what relaxation felt like. And it cemented for me that, never again, would I allow someone to treat me any less than the way I treat myself. Curacao taught me that I deserved to be treated like GOLD.
We all do. And at some point in our lives we all find ourselves in the battle between light and dark. Always choose the path that brings you peace. Be vigilant about protecting your spirit. And be ready to burn it all down when and if the time calls. You are GOLD baby. Move accordingly.
Just a few thoughts from my recent travels to Ireland…
